Obama looks to have won NE-02 by 359 votes. So unless there’s a recount there, my prediction is ever so slightly off. And this would be the first time an elector voted for the candidate who did not win the state without being faithless. ---

Well done USA , suddenly you seem like worth taking notice off again . I don’t think you are "THE GREATEST NATION ON EARTH " etc However I think what you have done today , as a nation , is the single most restorative action ( on any number of issues &/or conflicts ) I have ever witnessed . Well, I’m pretty happy, but a few disappointments. Stevens has a small, but healthy lead in Alaska, which shocks me. Gordon Smith has a similar lead in Oregon, and the Franken race is just too close to call. Most disappointing of all, Prop. 8 looks like it could pass in California. It could be close, but so far it is maintaining a 52% to 48% lead as the night wears on. ---

I was especially following three Senate races, in North Carolina, Minnesota and here in Georgia. In North Carolina, Kay Hagan has won handily, and Dole can suck it. In Minnesota and Georgia, it’s still too close to call, in both cases because of a third party spoiler (Buckley in Georgia; Barkley in Minnesota). I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a recount in both states. (In Minnesota, which is a plurality state, they’re almost tied; in Georgia, which is a runoff state, Chambliss is definitely ahead, but if he doesn’t maintain at least 50%, there’ll be a runoff, and he’s right on the line.) Man, McCain went out classy. I think he’s glad it’s over. Haven’t gotten much sleep, and now I have to get ready to go to work. But I’m not complaining. ---

Heard on the radio that Georgia has not been officially called because they haven’t counted the early votes in some of the most populous counties, including mine (Cobb). That means _my vote_ has literally not been counted yet. I’d love it if I were part of turning this state around. ---

Just got home from working overnight, had the radio on to hear McCain’s concession, and got to watch Obama’s victory speech on a break. I’m still in (happy) shock. …and even more happily shocked to see that, apparently, Indiana pulled it off and went for Obama in the end. (Thanks to the Lake County area, home of die-hard Dems and slow-ass ballot counters.) Still close, and there could be a last minute batch of 30,000+ McCain votes counted somewhere to tip it back, but it looks unlikely. Now to watch with interest to see how CA deals with Prop. 8. ---
