So crazy, it just might work, and in fact did. Even GWB was gracious in his congratulatory message to Obama. Quite a night. (Speaking of initials, how will we refer to President Obama when we’re being concise? Personally I get pleasure out of typing “President Obama”, but eventually we’ll need initials. BO is problematic, especially among the 13-year-old boy demographic. Guess it’s BHO. Which means at some point we’ll see some kind of satire done with the initals looking like the HBO logo.) ---

Good morning, folks. I’m still sleepy as all heck but I feel good. So, last night wasn’t a dream afterall. Heh. Observations… What the heck is going on with Missouri and North Carolina? Everything I see says 100 percent of precincts reporting for both states, which they were before I went to bed. When will these be called? That freaking wacko Michele “my heart is for you” Bachman keeps her seat. The heck?? I said it already, but it bears repeating IMO: Nate Silver was scarily accurate. I guess he’s the new star. Jesse “that should have been me” Jackson weeping while constantly, and knowingly, facing, and looking into, the camera. Classic Looks like Al “I’m Al Franken” Franken hasn’t sealed the deal yet. Freepers are scaring the heck out of me. What the heck is with Harold Ford’s verbal diarrhea? Just answer the freaking questions, Harold! Sheesh. Who made this guy the font of knowledge? I can almost hear eyes rolling every time he begins to drone on. I was very impressed by McCain’s speech last night. Too bad it was tempered by the neo-Klansmen in the crowd. I kind of felt bad for Rachel last night. On the one hand she’s happy for Obama, on the other she has to be absolutely pissed about Prop 8, even though she held her rage in check. Consummate professional she. I can’t look at Keith Olbermann anymore without hearing Affleck’s “…up with which we dare no longer put!” Thanks SNL Michelle’s dress: \ Hated it! \ Obama’s speech was just right, IMO. ---

I woke up to congratulatory and thank-you emails from friends all over the world thanking us for electing someone that doesn’t terrify them. It was great. I live in the boonies so I wasn’t expecting much of a celebration but the college kids down the road had a big party and went nuts when they called if for Obama. They started a parade and marched and danced all along our little dirt roads in the dark picking up people at each house. It was so much fun. I’m still crying every time they mention his name. I almost can’t believe that I don’t have to be ashamed of my country anymore. I’m not as proud of my state for passing Prop 8. ---

I woke up in a New America that has some decidedly retro regions (I’m looking at you, California). New California border check: “Are you carrying any homosexuals into the state?” New California slogan: “Don’t marry in me.” I’m not too happy with Arizona, Florida or Arkansas at the moment, either, but frankly, I didn’t expect them to vote for gay equality. Oh, and Alaska? The man was convicted of a freaking felony! You’re just going to have to go through this again when the Senate expels him. Why didn’t you just elect the candidate who isn’t headed for jailtime? How hard is that? You people are weird. ---
