There’s still a slight odor near the fridge, but it’s not noticeable when you walk in the house any more. Unlike yesterday when it hit me as soon as I walked in. I was worried that we were going to have to declare it a natural disaster area. KT pulled the fridge out and we cleaned over, under, around, and behind it. We probably should do that once in a while. Got back into motorcycles after about ten years off. Back about 96 I had a small stroke and I loss most of my ability to feel on the left side. Even after the doctor cleared me to ride again I was nervous about the whole thing. As he put it “you’re 90% good” and I had some doubts that that was good enough. About 2005 I was at this sort-of museum called Bill’s Old Bike Barn and one thing lead to another and ------- I spent the weekend helping Bill fix a couple older bikes and get them running again. Ran a tank-slapper around a little and started thinking. With gas going up and us not really needing a car for most things and insurance on motorcycles being so dirt cheap and all -------- maybe I need one again. Just for the savings and all. Well, three months after that and a custom paint job and all, it was hard to remember that the intent was just some gas savings. I got back into the whole scene and have refound myself in a lot of ways. ---

It snowed quite considerably this morning, we got let out of work early before the trains and the bus stopped running…so I was home at midday. Sat around for a couple of hours then had to trek out in the snow to the eye hospital for a follow-up after my Sunday sojourn in A&E with the drunks and the crazies. Turns out my eye ulcer now has an infection for a friend. That’s £21.60 in prescription charges, thank you very much. One lot of antibiotic drops six times a day, one lot of steroid drops four times a day and one lot of cream every night. Woo and hoo. See how exciting my life is? And as if that’s not enough for you, it’s Fat Club tonight. **(((((Dotty)))))** ---

Guys, I’m worried about my dad. He’s still very tired. Much more tired than I think he should be and he’s being a typical stubborn ‘no I don’t need to see a doctor’ man. Short of holding him hostage and taking him, I don’t see what else I can do. ---

The procedure was a laparoscopic fundoplication, done as a cure for esophageal reflux. And I mean cure - the day before surgery, I was eating antacids by the handful. The only time I didn’t have a roll of Tums or a bottle of Mylanta on me was when I was in the shower. Doc orders up an endoscopy and finds my esophagus looking almost burnt from constant contact with stomach acids and the upper sphincter not closing. [This pic](http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/adam/images/en/stomach-picture.jpg)helps makes things clear… In a fundoplication, the surgeon grabs that upper section called the fundus and wraps it around the esophagus, then holds it in place with a couple of stitches. The stomach muscle itself now takes over for the sphincter. My surgeon wrote a [little blurb](http://www.cpmc.org/advanced/liver/news/newsletter/newsletter-vol10.html#10news5) about it. Funny thing is that he says in the article that the usual hospital stay is 1-2 days. My procedure was done in the late afternoon. The next morning, I’m chasing after him at 7:30 asking if I can go home. (Hospitals are terrible places to try and recover - they’re so damn noisy!) ---

Why does this place smell so fishy? 😃 Howdy Y’all from chillified south Jawja! It’s only 38 degrees Amurrkin outside! :eek: The windchill is 32. ICK! Some of y’all up north shut the back door so all that Canada air will quit showin’ up down here! One down and four to go! Dindin will be easy tonight. I already have the casserole ready to bake. I went ahead and made it up yesterday. I’m thinkin’ succotash as a veggie cause I want me some succotash. Good enough reason for me. Ok, time to go catch up on the goin’s on up in the Dope. FINALLY, the damned carpets are shampooed, delayed by the heat death of the old shampooer, purchase of a new unit with money I don’t have, and the arrival of VunderKind. He wanted to do something muscular today, so I sent him out to tear down the pumphouse. It’s now referred to as ‘The Titty Bar’ 'cuz he got as far as getting the roof off before he came in from the cold. Why The Titty Bar? It’s topless… Other than that, I got nuthin’. Stay warm goes out to applicable Mumpers. ---

I got to work almost two hours over today. Yay! :rolleyes: It’s another 1.8 credit hours on the books. In theory, we’ll have our slide show all tidied tomorrow and it’ll be turned over to QA for final blessing before getting uploaded to the classified network. Assuming all goes as planned, I’m taking off Friday and Monday. I need to get a new driver’s license and my car is due for its 60K service. Beyond that, I’ll chill at home. Which is good. Still cold here. There were flurries around, but I didn’t see any. We may get more Thurs and Fri, but no accumulation is threatened, so that’s good. That’s all I’ve got. I think I need to knit a while. \*Smoochies!!! \* ---

Wow, it’s really cool to read where everyone’s been in the past decade. Welcome to those of you who don’t normally make it into the MMP. Sorry your dad isn’t doing so well, **Pie**. I think you should drag him to the doctor’s office. Heh. I was reading **Muppet’s** post and kind of confused because I was pretty sure she wasn’t the one who had spilled the fish sauce. Glad **taxi** came in and fessed up. I improvised my way to a black bean and shredded pork soup for din-din. It was teh yum. I can’t believe how cold it is everywhere. Well, almost everywhere. ::Looks meaningfully at **Asimovian** :: 😛 It’s been slightly less obnoxious here than in other places (pretty cold, but not much snow; I think we have an inch), but still. **Pie** , thinking of you and your dad. Keep us updated. Nat has the stupidest Canadian ABC book ever. Reading it aloud is like driving sporks into my eyes. It’s in these grim modernistic colours and has weird random paintings. And the writing was done by someone drinking heavily and thinking that the pay would maybe make rent. “_I is for identity, and igloos and such. Canada is so cool, I love it so much_” Gag. Who puts pics of Margaret Atwood and Margaret Laurence in a _kids’ book_?
