My cockatiels are firmly in the Spain camp. They start singing every time they see Xavi. Really. I have not been able to duplicate this effect with any other player. I think I’ll have to give them away. ---

I’m just hoping for a decent game. We haven’t had a really good final since… 1966? They’ve ranged between dire (1990, 1994), one-sided (1970, 1982, 1998, 2002), and OK-but-not-memorable (1974, 1978, 1986, 2006). 1978 was probably the best of that lot. 1986 had a great last 15 minutes but was quite dull up to that point. ---

If the game tomorrow has half of the liveliness and excitement of today’s game, I’ll be quite satisfied with it. Best game of the tournament so far. ---

I think this can happen if Holland scores early. I can’t imagine Spain opening up all of a sudden after the way they played the last few games. Especially since they’re winning. Based on the scores of the past few 3rd place games, it’s evident that defenders don’ t play as inspired. I picked up a few bucks today on the OVER 2.5 goals. Easiest bet of the tournament. I wouldn’t expect the same tomorrow.
