That goal would have scored around 15 points if they were playing “25”\*. “25” is a game where you have one goalkeeper and 2-7 players trying to score against him, goals are accorded points following an arcane system I really never fully understood (number of continuous passes before the goal, if the goal was scored with the head, things like that), if the players reach 25 points each of them kicks the goalkeeper in the ass :), you have to be careful though, since if you kick the ball outside the field (in a failed shot at the goal or something) you take the role of goalkeepeer. Ahhh, so many memories, so many kicks in my nerdy ass… 😃 ---

They either need to win, or if they draw, Slovenia needs to beat or draw with England. If the games go draw-draw, US would advance on goals scored unless England comes up with 2 or more than the US scores. Korea wins and Greece draws or loses; Korea draws and Greece loses; Korea draws and Greece draws, and Greece scores the same number of goals as Korea I believe Korea wins the head-to-head tiebreaker against Greece based on head-to-head goals, so as long as Greece doesn’t win the earlier tiebreaks (goal differential, total goals scored) they should be fine. ---

ETA: imagine how disappointing it would be for the Greeks to grind out a narrow 1-0 win over Argentina(!) and still not qualify for the next round. ---

So Argentina pretty comfortably through. I dunno, for all their near-calamitous qualifying campaign and the eccentricity of Maradona using 102 players during that campaign, they really look like a _team_. It’s clear that the players adore the manager. Hope they win the whole thing. ---

Well, the hemisphere advantage seems to be holding up. Out of 17 games so far between southern vs northern teams, the southern hemisphere has only lost once!- Australia to Germany. Overall so far: 10 wins, 6 draws and 1 loss. Spain better be ready to play against Chile on Thursday!
