2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

This Garcia from Oz seems a bit of a hothead.

Man, I love this phase of the World Cup, when you get three games every single day.

Germany look decent. Top half of the draw is going to boil down to them and Argentina, I would think.

I am feeling an Aussie comeback soon… I’d bet they equalize before halftime, maybe even win.

The longer the game goes on the more I feel like the Germans got lucky…

Is GER just running the clock? oh, here’s a drive! missed

And the rout is on.

Jeebus–these Germans are intense! 2-0

The longer the game goes on, the more likely it is to be 3-0, then 4-0, etc., etc., etc. Should be 4-0 already. Australia has no chance, sorry.

Shows what I know. 2-0!
Klose is beast. 11 world cup goals!

Was almost 3-0 now. I fail at analysis.

It’s so odd to see Aussies so overpowered. Of course I only know Aussie athletes via the summer Olympics, but dayum–it’s like the Little League vs the NY Yankees.

Ok, that’s not so nice, and I should be giving Oz more credit for not being completely steamrolled, but this is the most uneven play I’ve seen (not that I am anything but a newbie).

Well, this is like only the fifth most popular team sport in Oz, so that gives them an excuse. They call it “soccer” too, you know, to distinguish it from the three other varieties of football that they prefer. The Socceroos, the team is apparently called.

Germany looks really good, at least to my untrained eye.

On an unrelated note, I think I might be willing to sacrifice live sound to get rid of those damn horns.

They’re not quite as loud as yesterday–I could actually hear some cheers and some crowd noise.

I hope they do ban them, though–they are obnoxious.

Supposedly you can greatly diminish the horns at home if you have the right sound system.

Germany shows us how it’s done. I do like the way they play.

I suspect they’ll ban the horns for the 16’s. I don’t mind it, but you lose out on the singing. I heard “God Save the Queen” during the England match yesterday though - quite an achievement from the English fans!

Definitely not as loud. I can hear the ball getting kicked and the crowd shouting, not to mention the announcers.

Red card! Hmmm… I don’t know enough about them, but it didn’t seem all that bad to me (the action that caused it).

The announcers agree with you. Didn’t look flagrant to me either.

The World Cup REALLY starts tomorrow when Italy plays for the first time!
