It was very close. I think the Korean defender on the ground may have kept him on. But the fourth goal was beautiful and definitely on.
Yes, I am sure that the other team will be complaining about that goal for all eternity… wait the other team is not England
Other instruments are noise-makers, vuvuzelas seem to be turning into excuse-makers…
Well done, Argentina, te felicito. Things are starting to get back to normal, it seems.
There is a very big difference between scoring from an offside position and intentionally cheating. If someone gets the rub of the green then fair enough, lucky decisions tend to work themselves even over time but to cheat so blatantly is another matter entirely.
Hey!, it was cheating but it was not blatant, it was subtly, artistically done, a masterpiece of cheating, a work of art.
You had to see 4 or 5 replays before you can say for sure that the “hand of god” was indeed a hand.
now, the other goal by Maradona in that game, that was subtle, beautiful, artistic, no-cheating involved, futbol.
All in all, I would prefer that Maradona had not scored with his hand, but if the alternative was England winning that game by penalty kicks or something…
Now you are just being silly, England never win on penalties
:smack: you’re right.
Well, but may be on extended time England could have scored again, and that just wouldn’t be right.
Pretty free kick puts the Super Eagles up 1-0 against Greece.
poor Greece, economic woes and a poor World Cup
Superb Rivaldo-esque acting there.
OK, he exaggerated, but it was still a clear red card. Even the attempt would have led to a booking. Just a stupid, stupid move by Kaita.
Agree with the red card, but it would be nice for Torosidis to see a yellow for not trusting the referee. Of course, maybe he was trying to communicate in mime form.
Um, not really, it was totally blatant, as a quick search on google images shows.
No arguments there, one of the best scored in the world cup.
Greece scores again, 2-1.
After that goal, when the scorer was doing his airplane routine in the corner a few FIFA officials rushed him. As an ignorant American, I thought they were trying to stop his celebration. Instead, it appears they are Greek and wanted to join in.
Is that unusual?
Actually, those were Greek substitute players that were warming up along the sidelines. For some reason all the substitutes have to wear those silly FIFA vests when not playing.
I made a bet this morning on Uruguay to win Group A. While France and Mexico still have to play their 2nd game, I thought that +300 (I’d win $300 and lose $100) was a good price. Good bet?
Maybe it’s to prevent them from sneaking onto the pitch. I’ve always thought that starting with an extra player or two must be worth a try. After all, how often does the ref actually count them?
4-5-3, it’s the way forward.
Talking of Maradona, he actually got a touch on the ball when it came off, also he pulls his player off after he scores a hat trick.
I don’t know much but it seems like a very good bet. They are basically a shoo-in to win on goal differential, so if they get a win or draw plus if France doesn’t go win-win, they win the group.
