Yes, if Black had played 10. … Nxf4 instead of 10. … Qxf4?? then it’s up to you to prove you have any play at all in return for your piece. You missed a neat shot on move 14 too: 14. dxc6 and you’re threatening Bxf7+ winning the Queen, and 14. … Qf6 is no defence because after 15. Bxf7+, Kxf7; 16. Qh5+ and Black’s Queen is pinned. Meanwhile if Black tries 14. …Be6 then 15. cxb7 and you’re taking his Rook and queening your pawn! :eek:

I can’t access while I’m at work but I’ll accept tonight and we can get underway.
I agree Auto I didn’t think through the implications of our big exchange fully which ended up costing me a rook for a bishop and I think that doing the rook trade at the end came off bad for me as well. You played a good game and I’d love to match up against you again.

I tried looking for Hamlet on [Chess.com](http://Chess.com), but couldn’t find him. I can’t play at gameknot any more so that’s out. I also challenged Ivan since I was possibly paired with him if he still wants to play.

Hi guys.
I’m not sure if this is the place to ask, but as there was already a chess thread going…
So, I’ve been reading this thread and began thinking that I’d really like to learn how to play chess. I do know how the pieces move but that’s it. Any strategic or tactical thinking whatsoever is beyond me right now, so do you chess masters have any recommendations? Books, computer programs, sites, tips? How do I go about learning to play chess?

He’s called hamletsdmb on [chess.com](http://chess.com), but he’s away until the middle of next week - I have a friendly against him in progress.
**vdgg81** , sign up on [chess.com](http://chess.com) and you’ll find plenty to read and plenty of opponents. You are rated according to your results so you should quickly find your own level.

I would suggest starting new thread, it deserves one on its own. It’s likely that many of the posters here would contribute to it.

Ha! I was at the theater, faking a smile and making the girlfriend happy. I was _thinking_ about chess, though.
Apparently, I signed up for something on [chess.com](http://chess.com) so I logged in to find 6 games awaiting my first move. No idea I was playing that tournament.
Anyway, if anyone wants to meet me in person, come to Ashburn, VA chess club tomorrow for the quick quads by 3:30. Want more info? Google is your friend. 😉
