Might have worked, if they’d had more time to get the system right. I’ve also heard of a proposal to modify a C-130 like a Fairey Rotodyne, which would be weird-looking. (I guess we both digress.) As somebody who’s always loved science fiction and fantasy, and who started watching movies almost a half century ago, I do have to admit that modern special effects (if you’ve got the money for them) are nothing short of amazing. Pretty much anything you can picture in your mind’s eye can be put on the screen, given the best available technology and enough care. Great! Now we just need good scripts, damnit, so the amazing huge thing will _mean_ something. ---

To continue this hijack, I believe all of this led to the development of the V-22 Osprey. ---
