I am usually a pretty big defender of officiating, but this year I’m thoroughly convinced that the rules and the officiating judgment calls so completely favor the offense that it is pathetic. ---

Well, it’s a win for the Packers. Not pretty, not hope inducing, and not satisfying, but a win nonetheless. In a battle of “which defense will suck the most” the Bears and Chris Conte eke out the Packers and Morgan Burnett. Credit the Bears run defense, which clearly focused on stopping Eddie Lacy and James Starks, and, by and large, did the job. But despite a couple of gift interceptions, their tackling was too poor, and their coverage too blown, to win the game. Go Pack Go! ---

An overtime question: I seem to remember hearing somewhere that an NFL game does not go into overtime if neither team scores during regulation - the game is just recorded as a tie. But when I searched for this just now, I couldn’t find confirmation of this. Any help? (Incidentally, I did find there hasn’t been a scoreless game in the NFL since 1943.) ---
