The creative Emmys are going on right now–all the below-the-line awards in dozens of categories, before the big headliner ones next weekend. Other big winners, with 4 Emmys each: **Cosmos** : Writing (Non-fiction), Music score, Sound editing, Title music **Game of Thrones** : Art Direction, Costumes, Visual Effects, Makeup **Saturday Night Live** : Fallon, Directing (Variety), Makeup, Hairstyling **Sherlock: His Last Vow** : Cinematography, Music score, Editing, Sound editing **True Detective** : Cinematography, Casting, Makeup, Title Design **Deadliest Catch, Orange is the New Black** and **The Square** won 3 each. Other notable wins: Harry Shearer finally wins a voice-over Emmy for **The Simpsons** , the only one of the 6 principals who hadn’t yet. **Bob’s Burgers** wins Best Animated show. **The Daily Show** and **The Colbert Report** win one each, though the latter wins the more prestigious Writing award. Uzo Aduba completely deserves an Emmy because she is brilliant as Crazy Eyes. BUT, I wonder why she was nominated as a _Guest_ actor; she was in almost every episode, which would seem a supporting role. ---

I remember the Oscars used to be on Mondays ages ago, back when the industry thought that the ceremonies would impact the weekend box office. But they changed, and I’ve always remembered the Emmys (as well as other awards, like Globes & SAGs) on the weekend. But if it’s Monday, that means the primetime show that most people watch won’t be live on the West Coast but tape delayed. Very strange. ---

It’s airing on Monday because Sunday is the MTV Video Music Awards. And most years it airs up to a month later, but NBC also broadcasts Sunday Night Football and doesn’t want to have to choose between the two. ---

Well just read some of the winners. Looks like Breaking Bad got the Derek Jeter treatment by the academy. Also, I do like Modern Family, but jesus christ, hasn’t it won the bulk of the comedy awards for the last 5 years or so? Are there really no other comedies that can compete? Surprised they didn’t give it to Matthew Maconnughy just because they could have made history I find it generally weird that the oscars are always hyper focused on a small handful of darlings and the awards are just spread across them. Does Jim Parsons really deserve a win for his role on BBT? Really? ---

So… the folks at Modern Family MUST have compromising pictures of the Emmy Academy, right? This season was abysmal (I stopped watching midseason) but still won everything. ---

Yeah I watch _Modern Family_ but it hasn’t really been a stand out to me. Really surprised it won anything. I think \*Veep \*is great and should have won more. Tony Hale should win all the prizes forever. How about Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bryan Cranston?? LOL!!! Very surprised that _Orange Is The New Black_ both went in to the comedy awards, and also didn’t win more . I like the show myself, but don’t find it too crazy award-winning, but I thought the voters would. I’ve never even seen that Allison Janney show, _Mom_! Kind of surprised with Anna Gunn winning best actress. I don’t really watch the other shows though.
