Yeah, but you could also fit Scotland into the tiny tip of southern Ontario.
And Jennifer Jones wins women’s gold curling for Canada!
A similar story in Sweden. The Svenska Curlingförbundet lists sixty clubs but several of those share facilities.

And Sweden just choked in the ladies end 9 today. They just fell apart.
US hockeyettes 1, Canada 0 after 2 periods …
The last time the US led in a gold-medal game was in 1998, and they won.
2-0 now.
2-1 with 3 minutes left.
2-2 and overtime…
US power play coming up.
…aaaaaaaaaand it’s gone.
That was a pretty blatant make-up call.
At this point, the zebras better hope it goes to a shootout to cover for them.
That was the most horribly officiated game I’ve ever seen. Good game Canada but it was handed to you. That slashing call was a complete joke. It also was a textbook case for a penalty shot at the end.
Damn…
I can’t believe Canada won. I checked the score when it was 2-0, went to the bathroom at work, and when I came back it was 2-2. I’ll have to watch the replay tonight to see what I think of the officiating.
ETA: Another gold for Canada! Woo Hoo!
Just in the last five or six minutes of the game:
Canada pulls the goalie with 1:35 left in the third. Puck is sliding along the boards and Canada is in place to get it. Ref lets the puck hit her skate, giving the US a look at an open net. Shot hits the post but stays out. OT: USA on a four on three power play (good call, obvious crosscheck) and five seconds in puts a shot on net, US forward skates in looking for a rebound and touches the goalies pads with her stick. Call is slashing, cancelling almost a full power play for the US. Then with three on three USA makes a rush, and whiffs on a shot in front. Canada takes the puck on a clear breakaway, US player comes from behind as Canada crosses the blue line and trips the Canada player who sprawls onto the ice. A textbook penalty shot call. No, just a penalty.
So we are going to blame the officials for this loss? We are above that, are we not?
WTH, are the American girls crying??
There’s no crying in Olympic hockey!
So happy for the Canadian girls.
Olympic Hockey is brutal for silver medalists. Understandable that they cry. It would be like telling the losers of the Stanley Cup to stand on the ice for awhile longer so that they can get a medal handed to them. It is probably even worse for the US girls since Canada/US are really the only great teams.
Quite an upset today in Figure Skating. Russian Adelina Sotnikova beat Yuna Kim. The American girl Gracie Gold fell and didn’t medal.
I want to watch this tonight.
I was listening to the game on a Canadian radio station and the announcers called it a “blatant” make-up call and were upset that the officials played a part in the outcome of the game. I think it is a pretty legit beef, but there is nothing to be done now. All that said as a proud Canadian and huge hockey fan.
