# 2016 . . . it only gets worse from here on out.

I feel exactly that way about Ron Glass, because he was (as Det. Ronald Nathan Harris of the 12th Precinct of NYC) part of what, IMO, was one of the greatest comedies, and more importantly television series, I have ever seen, in the form of _Barney Miller_.

Here’s what the Web does for us:

Remember all your friends from way back?  
The ones you dated or wanted to date?  
Your fav teachers/professors?

Google/Bing “first name space last name space city/state or college”.

When your only hits are obits, it is time to quit searching.

My sole foray into “social media” (why would I care what your had for lunch?) was to get a phone number for someone from 1980-81.  
The annoying (“Myname! Do you know persons x, y or z?” are curiously reassuring - whoever these people are, at least I had some connection - _and they’re still alive_!

I now prefer to not know where or how these old friends are - the odds are overwhelmingly that “Still Dead” is the condition.
