# 2016 Rio Olympics - Trip planning

We’re considering a trip to the 2016 Rio Olympics and don’t really know where to start. It’s going to be a logistical nightmare, crowded, possibly incredibly disorganized, and we still want to go. Has anyone been to a Summer Games before and what advice would they offer?

We’d like to go to a Winter Games as well but I can’t really see going to Sochi for a variety of reasons. Maybe 2018 in S Korea - that would be an adventure as well.

Well, as a part time resident, I would say, reserve an apartment NOW-most of the best places are locked up. Most venues will be within the city-so bus service will be available. However, the traffic in the city is terrible. Be awre that there is major crime…but the Fedetral government will be deploying extra police. And, bring lots of money-expect that most restaurants and stores will bump prices up by 20-30%
