Johnson is by no means “safe” – he has a polling lead but it’s still close. But my own sense is that Republican attacks around crime and “he wants to defund the police!!!” are having more bite in Wisconsin than they are elsewhere.

It’s probably in a Barbie Museum . . .

There assuredly are many pro-Walker voters who have dismissed all the negative buzz about him as fabrications by the MSM. I can’t recall a previous time where there was so much distrust of and paranoia about the news.

I don’t even think it’s that they think the stories are fabrications. I think there are plenty of those voters who flat out don’t care. They want control of the Senate at all costs. Hypocrites all.

Walker could probably shoot someone in broad daylight in the middle of Peachtree Street and it wouldn’t cost him a single vote.

Don’t Democrats want (to retain) control of the Senate at all costs?

You care to provide an example? Or are you just playing a round of “both sides are equally hypocritical” without anything to back it up?

Point being, if abortion is really “baby murder” then they should be denouncing **Walker** rather than the media for reporting a story that is embarrassing to them.

Pretty much.

I’m trying to think what might be equivalent of a Walker scandal for a Democrat.

Suppose that Gisele tomorrow says, with documentation, that John Fetterman threatened to write her out of his will, to the greatest extent legally allowed, because she insisted in getting an abortion — and then he did.

Would I still vote for Fetterman? Sure. I base my congressional vote primarily on how I think the candidate will vote in Congress, not on whether he or she is a nice person, or a hypocrite.

Even the casual observer should have seen how the general reaction on the Left to the latest Hunter Biden news was “go ahead, arrest him, we don’t care.” Hell, I suggested arresting Hunter and Trump on the same day, lol.

That’s good to hear. I don’t know if that applies to the broader Democratic electorate, though.

Heck, there are posters on this message board that routinely state that the Republican party as a whole is evil, as are those who vote for them.

Barnes is running against someone who tried to overthrow the elected government of my country:

[Ron Johnson tried to hand fake elector info to Mike Pence on Jan. 6, panel reveals](https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/21/jan-6-panel-trump-overturn-2020-election-00040816)

As for abuse of women, this sounds like a criminal matter where there should be a presumption of innocence. Respect for both the due process of law and democracy suggests that if I was a Wisconsinite, I would vote for Barnes no matter how obvious his guilt might seem from October surprise news articles.

The Republican party, as it exists right now, is mostly evil. It is mostly against our democratic system, against peaceful transition of power, and against rule of law.

That doesn’t necessarily apply to its voters, but the present incarnation of the party is mostly an actively immoral, unethical, and anti American organization. IMO obviously.

I think this is all a dumb distraction, but a list of “tainted Democratic candidates elected to office anyway” ain’t gonna be a short one.

Care to back that up with any examples? And I mean candidates the party continued to support once it became known they had betrayed values or positions central to the Dems policies. Because that is what the GOP is doing in the case of Walker.

Al Franken is a good example of someone the party **didn’t** stand by when he had accusations made about his behavior. Please, who are the ones they did stand by in similar circumstances?
