Dick Groat, one of just 13 players to play in both the NBA and MLB, died yesterday, age 92. He was an All-American hoops star at Duke, where his number was retired after he graduated. He played briefly for the Pistons before concentrating on baseball with the Pirates. Michael J. Fox is NOT dead but he is making things interesting for future Death Pool games. He’s 61 but says he will not see 80. So it’s probably too soon to choose him for, say, two or three years at least…but starting him in your 2030 pool? You could probably do worse. Thoughts? > **[Michael J. _Australian Masterchef_ judge and Chef, Jock Zonfrillo, has died, suddenly, aged 46. A new season of the show was about to begin today, but has been postponed. Presumably he appears throughout, though I expect production of the complete series has not been concluded. I don’t watch the show anymore, but it remains as popular as ever, and the current set of judges are well liked.
