Not to be the Grim Reaper of statistics here but those planning on a couples parlay should remember: George H.W. Bush died seven months after Barbara, Richard Nixon died 10 months (and in a different calendar year) after Pat, and Nancy Reagan outlived Ronald by nearly 12 years. ---

Age difference might have been a factor. The Nixons and the Bushes were less than a year apart in age. But Nancy was ten years younger than Ron. ---

My favorite history series was the one Will and Ariel Durant wrote about the history of Western civilization. When they married she was fifteen and he was twenty six, a former tutor of hers. They died less than a month apart, after a seventy year marriage. ---

There is no June, except for the month we’re currently in. Loach said “[It’s] June and I still have a goose egg.” ETA: Unless he knows someone named June, and she has a goose egg. But I’m pretty sure he means the month. ---

All this talk about _Rosalyn_ and _Jimmy_ Carter, back in early May we apparently failed to notice the 12pt retirement of [Hodding Carter III](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hodding_Carter_III), who was active in government in the same period, though not related to Jimmy. ---
