All people have to do is annotate their list, which most people do, especially if there’s any ambiguity or someone who only a few people might know. All I’d say is to encourage this more often. ---

Still, if there are 100 players, that’s 1300 names and descriptions to read, and that’s a bit much to ask. I think it’s worth having some modest guidelines, before people start including someone on their county Board of Ed that has stage 4 cancer. ---

I mean, it is a frikkin’ game, folks. We are not playing for this month’s rent (well, not me, anyway). The best part, for me, is learning stuff about people I have barely or not even heard of, but, that person did something worthy of note or had an interesting life (I have a friend who reads the obits every day because folks are stories). So, tightening up the rules too much would mean the game, for me, would lose some of its fun. And, last I looked, games are supposed to be fun. ---

NPR had a story this morning that started out with a snippet of the closing song from the old Carol Burnett Show (“I’m so glad we had this time together…”) and my first thought was “Oh crap! Carol Burnett died!” But the story turned out to be about something completely different. (While I would be sad if Carol Burnett died, it _would_ get me some points on my themed list.) ---
