Jim Otto, who played center for the Oakland Raiders, passes away at age 86. He didn’t miss a game in his 15-year career and was the only all-Pro center in the AFL’s 10 years of existence. I have a vivid memory of them filming him getting out of bed with all of the pops a crackles that happened when he just did normal movements. That was in 1985. It’s amazing he lived as long as he did with all his health issues. He apparently was a hell of a businessman. Back in the 80s he already owned a large number of fast food franchises. I did find the documentary on YouTube. I won’t link to it since it’s hardly an authorized copy. The name was _Disposable Heroes._ It also has a pre-murder O.J. ---

There was a time when he had the only number retired by the Raiders - not by choice (I think Al Davis had a policy not to retire numbers), but because the NFL outlawed the number 00. In 2023, the NFL started allowing the number 0 again, but I don’t think 00 is allowed. ---
