2025 California Wildfire Season Has Begun

Which would be the status quo but in this case they were removing it down to dirt. When all this settles they will have to come up with some kind of management system that is focused on creating a defensible zone around the communities and keeps the mountains from washing away.

Did they pay for their dinner? Back when we lived in wildfire country, the Hotshots often caused minor issues because so many people fought over the privilege of paying their check.

Our home also survived a wildfire and the insurance company paid for us to have a Damage Control company come out and get a lot of the smell out by scrubbing the walls and cleaning all of the furniture. It helped a lot but didn’t get rid of the smoke smell entirely. You will get used to it before it fully goes away.

I’m glad that’s all you have to deal with, though.

Rain in the forecast! Tomorrow or Sunday

I don’t know, because they were still finishing their dinner when we were paying our bill. I had an inkling the restaurant might have comped them.

Well, it’s raining, or at least drizzling. Let’s hope it makes a difference.

Higher humidity alone makes a difference. Actual precipitation is even better.

I’m in Big Bear this weekend and they’ve been cycling the power across the town from sunup to sundown to lower the power on the transmission lines. We’re also expecting between 3 and 18 inches of snow (how’s that for precision).

Saturday evening wind at LAX airport is from the South East at 6 knots so it sounds like the Santa Anna Winds have died down.

Yep, no high winds predicted for at least a week.

And we had some rain, but I hope for more.

A good respectable rain to put out the fires and wash the toxic cloud down the sewers. Sorry fish but we can’t stop this from happening.

Don’t know about your area; but around here it wouldn’t be all that surprising if within a few miles’ distance or in some spots even less some people got 18 inches of snow and some people got 3 inches.

– here’s hoping for rain and/or snow but no floods.

yes, and no land/mud slides

(Waves at Pleonast from the valley.)

This has been the first year in living memory there wasn’t snow on San Gorgonio at New Years. This weekend will go far to fix that deficit.

So far, the amount of rain we got has been “just right”.

Northern Cal has been getting plenty of rain and snow- and us here in So-Cal- nearly none. This is the first real rain since many months ago.

So that’s what, an 18 or 19 day fire?

I wouldn’t go as far as saying “plenty.” We started out all right but is has been dry and clear all January, like sunny and low 60s. That December rain did help dampen things and prevent fires for sure, but if things don’t change soon we may be in for hurting later in the year, too.

The east coast might as well join the party.

Hopefully they also have a big valve Trump can turn on to get water from Canada.

Some idiot is named Peter Akemann & he’s now out $65,000 + legal fees & maybe even jail time, too. That’s one expensive drone flight!

YES!!! It’s time for those jerks to start paying for the damage they cause. I think he should have gotten worse, think of all the houses that plane could have saved, but at least he is getting charged.

His 150 hrs of community service should be on a fire line cutting down brush.
