Shunsaku Tamiya, who was an important part of my middle-teen-years, died at the age of 90. Gift link for the curious: > **[Shunsaku Tamiya, Who Brought Perfection to Plastic Models, Dies at 90](https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/25/world/asia/shunsaku-tamiya-plastic-models-dies.html?unlocked_article_code=1.ZU8.eXvc.XQGOMGmro2Za&smid=url-share)** > > He turned his family’s lumber business into a manufacturer of model kits that won global popularity for their quality and historical accuracy. I stopped making models aged 17 and 3/4, he kept at it until 90. ---

That’s so weird. I happened to watch her _Muppet Show_ episode today (I’ve been rewatching the series on Disney+), and like I often find myself doing, I looked her up on my phone to see if she was still alive - and found out she died two days ago. I even came to this thread to post it. ---

Oh shit. Well - as noted with Cleo Laine - 97 is a pretty good lifespan. In other news, that gives me my first points on the board, even if it’s a meager three, so a tiny silver lining for me. ---
