Pete Banaszak, who spent his entire 13 year career with the Oakland Raiders, has batted his last fumble forward at age 82. Banaszak was part of the infamous ‘Holy Roller’ play, where he knocked a Ken Stabler fumble towards the goal line, where it was eventually recovered by a teammate in the end zone for the game-winning TD. > **[Holy Roller (American football)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Roller_(American_football))** > > In American football, the Holy Roller was a controversial game-winning play by the Oakland Raiders against the San Diego Chargers on September 10, 1978, at San Diego Stadium in San Diego, California. It was officially ruled as a forward fumble by Raiders quarterback Ken Stabler that was recovered by his teammate, tight end Dave Casper, in the end zone for a touchdown, giving Oakland a 21–20 win. However, there have been differing interpretations of how this play should have actually been ruled... > **[Raiders mourn the passing of Pete Banaszak](https://www.raiders.com/news/raiders-mourn-the-passing-of-pete-banaszak)** > > The Raiders Family mourns the passing of Pete Banaszak, whose toughness, competitive spirit, and dedication embodied a legendary era of Raiders football and made him a cherished member of the Silver and Black. ---
