Right now I only see suicide being reported in that TMZ story. Unfortunately they have a pretty good record with these things. ---

I can wait and see, but I will not be surprised at this point to learn that he did, sadly, kill himself. I’m a lifelong Red Wings fan and the rivalry was bitter and aggressive back in the day. I mean, there was talk of pressing charges against him back in the 90s. Of course, of course, of course we never wished anything like suicide for him. Very sad. ---

Former _Alaskan Bush People_ personality Matt Brown is [feared dead at 43](https://www.tmz.com/2026/05/29/matt-brown-feared-dead-by-his-family/) after video surfaced of what appears to be him floating in a river. His family cut him off several years ago due to his erratic behavior, and last week, Matt posted a YouTube video of himself allegedly intoxicated as he wandered around naked with what appeared to be a gun in a public park in Washington state. ---

I missed this last year… Pauline Collins died last November. Maybe it was posted in last year’s thread, and I just didn’t see it. But just in case… In short (not really), Pauline Collins, actress and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), appointed for her services to drama in 2001, died last Nov. 5, (2025), from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Her family was around her. She was best known as Sarah, the under house-parlourmaid on _Upstairs, Downstairs_, and the titular character in _Shirley Valentine_, which she created as a one-woman show on stage, and later played in a movie based on the play. She was 85. I was a fan. Since I was about four, and watched the first _Upstairs, Downstairs_ series with my parents while staying up past my bedtime, because neither of them wanted to put me to bed and miss it, and as long as I was being quiet, they didn’t care. I had a girl-crush on Sarah, and followed the about 75% of the plot, which was enough to enjoy it. About 15 years ago, I got hold of DVDs of two shows she made in the UK that had been released only on the PAL format. I cracked them by using a new computer DVD player set on region 2 & VLC region-free software then uploading them to a separate hard drive. The shows were _No, Honestly_, and _Forever Green_, both made with her real-life husband John Alderton, to whom she was married for 56 years. They did two other series together, which were released in the US, _Thomas & Sarah_ (an _Upstairs, Downstairs_ spinoff), and _Wodehouse Playhouse_ (dramatizations of several Wodehouse short stories, introduced by Wodehouse himself). Forever missed. ---

Gavin Yates-Lyons, defensive back for Ball State University, has [died at 18 after being shot in parking garage](https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/48930784/ball-state-gavin-yates-lyons-18-dies-being-shot). According to the story, he doesn’t appear to have been involved, and was caught in crossfire. He had committed to Ball State, but hadn’t actually begun working out with the team. He was in his hometown to attend his high school graduation ceremony, which took place the day before. ---
