Next season’s plot: Jack and yet-to-be-named hot co-star are getting married in 24 hours. The bride is kidnapped by terrorists, and Jack has to save his bride before he loses the deposit on the hall. Various hilarities ensue. 😉 ---

Luthor has the cojones to oppose Superman at every turn and frame Bruce Wayne for murder. He was smart enough to get himself elected President of the United States, and most recently organized over 200 supervillains to oppose the Justice League. For a guy with no super powers, I like to think he could give Jack a good run for his money if he felt like playing the game. Other comic book characters who would be cool to face off against Jack (concentrating on non-powered types): Batman, Deathstroke, Captain America, Tao (from Sleeper), Snake Eyes (from G.I. Joe). ---

Season 5: Jack, now President of the U.S., and David Palmer, his Vice Prez, team up to fight a new terror threat. Jack breaks all the rules, but he can immediately pardon himself. And there’s no need now for captured baddies to demand a signed pardon from the president before they will talk. “I am the president! I AM THE PRESIDENT!!!” ---

Another snark: What is with the second guessing on “alerting the citizenry” about the Nuke? WTF are they going to do – it’s 4:30 am, the Nuke will hit within 2 1/2 hours, and you don’t know where its going! I’m sorry, but “evacuate every major city in the country in the next 2 hours” doesn’t seem like much of a plan. Most people won’t be turning on the TV or radio for another 2 hours anyway. At that point, the whole “you are maybe going to die in 30 minutes, but maybe not 'cause we’re not sure” message is even worse. ---

My take on this - since the first season aired in 2001, I assume that the first season was set in 2004 (March 2nd, to be precise, that being the day of the CA primary in that year). That would place Season 2 (16 months later) in July 2005, Season 3 (3 years later, during presidential debate season) in October 2008, and Season 4 (“a year and a half later”) in April 2010. I don’t have the Season 3 DVD to double-check this on, but I believe there’s a scene where a certain character’s ID is shown with a DOB clearly visible that would bear out a date of 2008 for that season. ---
