Well, I think there is an exception being when some absolutely vital information needs to be communicated then there is a distinct possibility of the coverage going out.

I remember at least one previous occasion with a bad cell phone signal:

In season 3: When Michelle had been kidnapped, but briefly escaped from Saunders’s goons, she tried to call Chloe, but the connection was bad. So Chloe said, in her usual charming style, “I can’t hear what you’re saying, and I’m really busy right now,” and hung up.

> There was a little moment in this episode that I really liked: Jack washing his face and looking at himself in the mirror before talking to TerrorMom. He was making her wait before questioning, which made sense, but it was also just kind of a nice character moment. Jack having a second to himself, not driving anywhere or being shot at or even yelling at anyone. And we saw the Salazar tattoo, which was another reminder of how much he’s given on the job. That and Tony going along with Jack in this episode are among my favorite _24_ moments in two seasons of watching, up there (though not ahead) with Jack shooting Nina.

Great call. I was very into this moment, then my wife yells out “what is he waiting for?!”. Didn’t think about the symbolism of the Salazar tatoo, but it makes sense.

Yep, I thought the same thing-- excellent dramatic effect. I was also thinking that he probably wanted terrormom to see the tattoos.

The one thing I thought odd, though, was that no one was really guarding terrormom as they drove into the hospital. IIRC, she was in Tony’s vehicle, but it looked like she could’ve ducked out pretty easily.

To what end? Given the modern Islamic attitude toward tattooing, it could only serve as a reminder that he was a dirty infidel. (Not that she needed any such reminder.) It seemed like he was already planning on using the understanding “good cop” route to get her to open up as far as possible.

I liked Jack shooting the tire of the escaping car. That isn’t done enough in TV/ Movies IMHO.

Ya, Comic Book Guy should have worried about his mother hours ago.

If this wer Star Trek, they could pump the basement full of instant sleeping gas and retrieve the kid.

That gives me an idea for either the best, or the worst, crossover ever.

Yep – you’re right. I do remember (now that you mentioned it) Chloe hanging up with that remark.

That’s funny-- I instantly thought of McCoy when Chase went over to the freshly-sniped prisoner and pronounced “He’s dead, Jack.”

That’s normal, right?

Not Chase. Chase is the irritating lumpy-headed chump who wanted to be Jack Bauer ][, and instead got tortured, and, eventually, had his hand chopped off.

I’m quite certain that while swinging the axe Jack was thinking, “There can be only one Jack Bauer, biatch.”

Meanwhile, Tony is the super-cool dude who made one bad decision and got screwed for it. But at least it got him his soul patch back.

That was a discussion topic last week. I think it will just end up that Tony’s bartender-girlfriend will be the real mastermind of the whole plot, but its real aim is to just hunt down Michelle and kill her so she can have Tony all to herself!

Exactly. The moment didn’t stand out for me because it perfectly illustrated the Islamo-fascist-terrorist mind-set: men can rove around and kill perfectly innocent people, but if a woman screws around, stone her in the public square.
