The most jarring thing for me last night? Here you find a mechanic who can set up a machine and slice open 20 1 cm thick steel canisters in 35 minutes without screwing up and killing everyone and then you shoot him in the head? Dude, what about the next time you need a custom exhaust for your new hog? This is your go-to guy. (I’m not sure how long it would really take to slice open that many containers, but I’m thinking you’d probably need an oil or water-cooled cutting disk and it would probably take more like 5 or 10 minutes per container. Without lubricant, the heat of the process would likely turn the detonators into useless plastic encapsulated piles of sand.) I liked the fancy LED display inside the canisters too. Because, you know, inside a sealed canister is an ideal place for an LED display. When they uncovered the 15 year old kid, I figured that the white slaver ring would play an integral part in the plot and we’d have Kim and Chloe going undercover dressed in chain mail bikinis. Well, “figured” is the wrong word. “Fantasized” might be the right one. 15 year-old girl was might fast on the draw, everything considered. Now I’m not an expert on guns, but I’m thinking that they’re reasonably bulky, heavy pieces of hardware and if a scantily clad girl were carrying one, then Jack, the trained counter-terrorist agent would probably have noticed it. You have to figure that looking for gun bulges would be pretty second nature for someone in his profession. But we all knew that skeevy Russian guy was dead the moment he included the girl in the deal. We just weren’t sure who was gonna do the job. (BTW, that rang mighty false. In real life, it would have been, “You’ll let me go with my assets and my genitalia still intact? And you want the girl? You take girl! Lots more 15 year olds in 3rd World hellhole I’ll be hiding in.”) ---

If I’ve been sold into sex slavery, watched my captor get arrested, and told to get dressed, I think I’d probably bundle up pretty good, and not wear a very low-cut shirt with an open sweater. ---

She’s pretty quickly revealed to be 15, though. Sure, the actress probably isn’t, but it seems like an odd choice. ---

The funniest part of all the questions over the girl is there’s no way to know whether she has gun skills because she’s more than she appears to be, or if she shot Rossler (was that his name?) purely to advance the plot so Jack has to pretend to be the guy and deliver the chip, or whatever he’s supposed to do next. It could really go either way. Remember the campaign worker from the first season who unknowingly was having an affair with one of the bad guys? Once they all found out, they wired her to get info from the guy and she ended up going off-book and stabbing him to death, screwing up some of their plans. Sometimes an angry woman with a weapon is just an angry woman with a weapon. And sometimes she’s Naked Mandy, Super Mercenary. ---

Supposedly the nerve gas is in a special container that makes it easier to disperse over a wide area. I’m not really sure what that means. Dispersing poisonous gas effectively requires a lot of things to go right (for the bad guys) or wrong (for the good guys). At least the bad guys aren’t going to test it outdoors, where most of it would just blow away. ---

Okay, here’s the part I don’t get. The terrorists have 20 cannisters of nerve gas. But oh no! They’re missing the special codes to cause them to detonate. That makes those cannisters _useless_. One of the characters on the show even said that. Uh, how about just cracking them open? _They’re cannisters full of gas_. If you don’t want to die, open them remotely with a gunshot. Or tie a string around a trigger of a gun, wrap that around a $5 egg timer, and wait for hilarity to ensue. Or remote control a 5-ton hydraulic press if you have to. ---

No one else has said this, so I must be on crack, but I could _swear_ that the Russian girl took the gun out of someone’s (Jack’s?) holster…I didn’t think it was lying around anywhere. Guess I need to go back and watch that part. And Samwise hadn’t made it back into CTU by the end of the episode. ---

I should add the point that **Jakeline** brought up, which is that, because of the grade of weapon she used, she still may have lifted it off Jack or one of the other CTU agents earlier on. Personally, I would _think_ based on the way “24” normally does reveals that they would have made it clearer if she’d actually stolen the gun, but who knows? ---
