BTW, did anyone else find it strange that Karen Hayes felt the need to tell the President what a “suitcase nuke” was? You’d think that the POTUS would be quite familiar with this term.
“Suitcase Nukes”?

BAND NAME!!! 😃

Anyhoo…

I don’t know about anyone else, but after Jack shot Curtis, I found the nuke explosion almost anticlimactic!

So, after 5 seasons, we can be reasonably certain that the first threat is never the main threat.
There are 5 mores nukes out there in the hands of the terrorists.
It’s only hour 4.
What the hell could possibly be worse?
Can’t wait to find out!

And, a minor hijack…

Anyone watch _Countdown_ and _Scarborough Country_ on Tuesday? Apparently, MSNBC is accusing Fox of using **24** to generate fear among the American people to keep the “war on terror” agenda fresh in people’s minds, thereby furthering Fox’s supposed conservative agenda.

Love ya, Keith, but  .

I suppose we could wait for next week, but I am wondering - just how big was that bomb ? How many city blocks do you think it took out, how many people died ? Would it spread radiation to the whole city ?
Well, they talked about the projected range and casualties in one of the “President and his advisors” scenes. It’s definitely smaller-scale than the season 2 nuke. I think a relatively small blast radius – I forget the projected casualties of the initial blast, but I think it was pretty small, like in the low thousands. They projected that the radiation fallout could affect up to 100,000, depending on weather conditions, etc. I don’t think it would spread to L.A. proper – having occurred in Valencia – unless there was a big prevailing southerly wind going on.

I think the damage would have been much worse if they’d gotten the bomb deeper into L.A., which I think was probably the plan. I remembered being a little confused because I thought Fayed had said something about being able to detonate it in another hour – but then I realized that might refer to an intent to transport it into central L.A. first, until the CTU raid spoiled that possibility.

IIRC, they described it as a 1 kiloton nuke. I think the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs were 15 and 20 kilotons.
