$2B for the LA Clippers? WTH?

I am wondering if this is more about keeping the team or not being declared incompetent.

He has to know that this is going to happen whether he likes it or not, but he has time and money so he might as well make it as ugly and painful on the ex and NBA as he can.

It’s about him doing whatever he wants. There is a reason it’s called “fuck you” money.

Ex? Shelly Sterling is still his wife. She can’t divorce him or she isn’t a part of the Trust anymore or something and it would kill the deal. She’s been holding onto signed divorce papers for a long time now.

Latest development from the trial is:[

"Judge Michael Levanas allowed the sale of the Clippers to go forward Monday afternoon, ruling in favor of Shelly Sterling on all three counts in a probate court trial against Donald Sterling.

The ruling in Los Angeles Superior Court included an extraordinary order that essentially renders any appellate court intervention meaningless."

Is the fight finally over?

Donald Sterling’s racist words may be the most profitable racist words in history.

Profitable for him? the guy has been trying like crazy to stop the sale. The money means absolutely nothing to him, the team did.

80 years old and in ill health with possible Alzheimer’s, let him have his money, he won’t be able to enjoy it much. At this point, all I care about the is the team and those it employs. I don’t care that Sterling’s getting the money because he’s had a lot of money already that he can’t spend. He’s the cancer, getting rid of him is the goal

Aww, too bad. It would have been very entertaining to have an entire sports team truly and publicly hate its owner.

Steve Ballmer is the new owner. There’s still time for the team to truly and publicly hate him.

There are other cases, but he’s not believed to have much chance of success.

And even if he won all he would get would be financial remuneration, the team can’t be unsold.

" Steve Ballmer officially became the new owner of the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday.

The team said the sale closed after a California court confirmed the authority of Shelly Sterling, on behalf of the Sterling Family Trust, to sell the franchise to the former Microsoft CEO."

The court battle still may not be over.
