I’ve got a tie for worst. As I’m sure someone else will post the horrible Starship song before long(if they haven’t already, and I missed it), I’ll go with the other one: Matthew Wilder,“Break my Stride”. HORRIBLE 80’s synth, matched by equally horrible lyrics. It was a huge hit. ---

“Favorite” was hard (I just posted a “this is something I like listening to and was listening to recently”). “Least favorite” in a way is even harder, for a totally different reason; if I hate a song, I generally turn it off, so I have no idea what it is or who it’s by. So in this case I’ll go with a song I couldn’t turn off: at a recent retail job where I often worked early morning stocking shifts, they played, generally, terrible music that was apparently supposed to motivate us, rather than induce merchandise-smashing rage. The worst of these was [Funk Soul Brother](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBClImpnfAg) which is four minutes of the same shit repeated over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over The worst part is that it actually sounds like it’s going to end at the two minute mark, but NO! You still have another two minutes of Geneva-Convention-violating terribleness. ---

I really had to think about this because there are a lot of easy targets. But in the end, my award goes to Pearl Jam’s cover of [“Last Kiss.”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0B-hJ_gotc) So excruciatingly bad that I have dry heaves when it comes on the radio. Generally, I can ignore bad songs—or songs that simply don’t do anything for me—quite well, so I’m hard pressed to point to a list whose top entry gets the dubious honor of being the worst, but since I gotta pick one, I choose ‘[Atemlos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2czABFw6RnE)’ by Helene Fischer—simply due to the fact that it was utterly impossible to avoid during much of 2014/2015. On the other side of the same coin, I heard the beginning of that one on the way to work last night. Before I changed the station, I was reminded that _a lot of people out there like this song!_. It wouldn’t have survived otherwise It’s still the audio version of intentional boiled cardboard, to me. The fans of that song and I are on the same planet, but we inhabit different worlds. ---

I guess Amazing Grace wins because I have to hear it all the time whereas the other one is rarely , if ever, heard any more. ---

Wait; did the OP ask for our least favorite song in general or just glurgy ones from the '70s? (and for \*your \*information I like '70s glurge 🙂 ) Anyway, there have been countless songs I’ve hated so I’ll just mention one that I actively remember hating and telling everyone who would listen how much I hated it: _I Believe I can Fly_ by R. Kelly. Shoot him now. A more recent one is Kelly Clarkson’s _Because of You_. What a bubbling, stinking pot of self pitying dreck. Oh, and I kind of like the song mentioned in the OP. You want to hear crap, check out the same band’s awful _Paralyzer_. Holy cow, [these lyrics](http://www.metrolyrics.com/paralyzer-lyrics-finger-eleven.html). I would have sworn English is not their first language but no, I see they’re Canadian. ---
