# "33" Theories

Yes, I know that [Cecil has already covered it](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a2_044.html), but I was sitting at the sports bar above the Iceoplex (great place for a future Doperfest ;)) having a Rolling Rock and waiting for my food. I was fairly bored, so I, as everyone else who’s enjoyed one, started to muse about the meaning of the mysterious 33; the bartender noticed and interjected with a couple of her own. I know the basic theories:

[li]19_33_ being the end of Prohibition[/li][li]33 words in the slogan on the back (“Rolling Rock…from glass lined tanks…”)[/li][/ul]

I’m interested in hearing some of the more interesting theories about “33” that the Dopers have to offer!

I tend to believe the one that’s true (the 33 words in the slogan theory). However, on my last birthday, I did ask for and get 33 Rolling Rocks. Made an otherwise meanless birthday more fun.

Ahh, 33 for you and 3 for the giver…great deal :).

I suppose I should say that I’m not really so much interested in the true meaning, but I just want to hear some wild theories that people have!

Being from SW Pennsylvania (live about an hour from Latrobe), 33 theories are especially widespread around here. I just wanted to see what people said across the country 🙂
