I once went with a friend visiting from the US to visit some friends she knew in Munich…they were living on the base a bit outside of Munich.
One of the things that shocked me is how much many of the people on that base hated to travel. I was shocked to learn many had never once been to the city center to see the Glockenspiel, or anything else. One guy (about 20) said, “Why go there? We have everything we need here on base - McDonalds, a bar, grocery store…”
Another woman said, “I hate going out into the economy (I think that was the term she used for off-base) as everything is so old.”
It was mind-boggling that so many people were blowing a chance of a lifetime to get out and see the world and just hung around on base 24/7.
I think it is fantastic that you are taking advantage of every opportunity to get out and see the world! Trust me when I say you will never regret it - but you already know that!
Great photos!
I especially like the one of the two of you, with the Eiffel Tower and the moon in the background…that could be used as an ad in a magazine!
Any Berlin shots? Nostalgia for pictures of my old hometown…
Thanks! Recognized a lot…Pergamon Museum was cool, wasn’t it? So much to see. Was a favorite place of mine to go to kill a few hours on rainy days - and trust me, there were plenty of rainy days to go there and wander around!
