Kohberger supposedly suffered from “visual snow syndrome”, a visual disorder where your vision is clouded by static. It seems to cause other neurologic problems as well.
In a forum for people with this, he posted ~10 years ago that he had “depression, no interest in activity, constant thoughts of suicide, crazy thoughts, delusions of grandeur, anxiety, poor self image, poor social skills, NO EMOTION…I felt no emotion and along with the depersonalization, I can say and do whatever I want with little remorse.”
Who do you think the Sanitation Engineers work for?
I know mental illness doesn’t equal violence. I wonder tho if people you meet that set off warning bells for no clearly apparent reason have something like this. It’s not common, but there have been people that I have met casually that just scream “stay away.”
Of course, I have no way to know what my batting average is on this. Could be .000, could be .999.
I did knife drills in karate class and I found knives were scarier. I would guess, at least for me, that it’s because a bullet can’t follow you but a knife can.
Hard to tell how this could effect the case, but the prosecution has notified the defense that a police officer is being investigated in relation to the case under something called the Brady/Giglio law described as:
A Giglio or Brady list is a list compiled usually by a prosecutor’s office or a police department containing the names and details of law enforcement officers who have had sustained incidents of untruthfulness, criminal convictions, candor issues, or some other type of issue placing their credibility into question.
From the article, bolding mine:
Idaho keeps a statewide record database for police, corrections and other law enforcement officers who have been decertified under the Brady/Giglio rulings, maintained by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training division. These infractions can range from lying, code of ethics violations, inappropriate relationships and misdemeanor and felony convictions. Since 2015, there have been 396 officers placed on the list, according to the online database
That seems like a hell of a lot of unreliable police officers for any state to have, much less a sparsely populated state like Idaho. (under 2 million)
Or NOT giving what we’ve been learning about how much our police forces cover for each other, or creatively describe circumstances when there isn’t a direct video record (or even when there is one).
As we keep picking away at the veil of secrecy and privilege that protects them, I strongly suspect that the rotten apples are the majority of the barrel, by omission, if not by commission at least.
Yeah, that doesn’t seem to be all that common. Little bit hard to believe that you could work any job for years and not witness a lot of rule breaking that’s reportable.
Did anybody else notice that the judge in this case is named Judge?
Judge Judge.
Anyway, he was arraigned today.
That’s just a fancy word for entering a not guilty plea. It starts the clock for the court - the case is either going to end in a trial, a plea, or a dismissal, but now it’s on a judge’s docket, and they will eventually require a resolution.
