Don’t forget, they also found all kinds of great new animals, like fanged frogs and a tiny bear like creature. ---

The BBC online article was headlined “Giant Rat Found Near Lost Volcano”. Now I understand how you can overlook a relatively small, possibly nocturnal animal in a thick jungle like New Guinea’s, but how do you lose an entire volcano? ---

As a botanist, I have to point out that there must also be quite a few new species of plants (not that anybody but me cares.) ☹ ---
