It’s a reasonable assumption - he gets his information from extremist media, so he assumes everyone else does too.

> ISIS has said they plan to attach the US, and they have said they will use the refugees to infiltrate people into countries this wish to attack. I believe them, so it is a matter of math to determine the potential losses of US citizens in a terror attack. Then for our politicians to determine if the losses are acceptable.
>
> In Paris 8 killed 130, so that is 16.25 dead per bad guy. The Charlie Hebdo shooting was 11 killed by 2 bad guys so that is 5.5. The average of the 2 is 10.8, so assume 10 dead per bad guy.
>
> Now we take how many bad guys can come in. It is unreasonable to say none, as there will be some. What is a reasonable % of the ones who come in that have bad intent. Myself, I say 1/10th of 1 % will have bad intent. So of 10,000 that is 10 bad guys.
>
> So 10 bad guys at 10 dead per bad guy and we have 100 dead US citizens in the next few years to bring in the Syrian refugees.
>
> Is that acceptable ?

You aren’t factoring in several things though. How many terrorist plots have been foiled with zero civilians killed? What’s the actual probability of a successful attack happening? How many of the attackers actually are or were refugees? In the US, we ALREADY take in immigrants every year…how many attacks do we have, annually, from terrorists? How many attacks come from immigrants or refugees? How many are from home grown assholes? Is the home grown asshole to foreign terrorist ratio high or low?

And so on. Basically, you are worried about how good your teeth look or how brown/yellow they get from smoking a carton of cigarettes a day along with a case of beer and a double cheese burger, large fries and trough sized soft drink for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

In fact, fascism describes the far left-wing of the political spectrum. Hitler’s party was the Social Democrats. At the far right is anarchy, then libertarianism, conservativism, middle of the road, and from there all the way left to the all-controlling government you people seem to revere. You might like Cuba, or even North Korea.

Hitler’s party was the [National Socialist German Workers’ Party](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_Party) (a.k.a. the Nazi party), not Social Democrats, and it was definitely not left wing, though it had some socialist aspects. But they were directly opposed to left wing parties, including Communist. Your dissection here of the political spectrum pretty much shows you don’t understand even the basics.

Look, **Ren,** get this straight: American LW mass media are pretty much limited to a few overtly political magazines such as _The Nation, Mother Jones, In These Times, The Progressive,_ and radio outlets like Pacifica and Democracy Now!

As for news networks and broad-circulation daily newspapers, we have extreme-RW outlets like Fox News and _The Washington Times_ and _The New York Post_ and _The Wall Street Journal_ editorial page; and we have centrist outlets such as CNN and _The New York Times_ and _The Washington Post;_ and . . . that’s pretty much it. Not even more-or-leftist MSNBC is by any stretch a LW analogue of Fox.

In the first place, I never called "everyone who doesn’t agree with (me) ‘stupid.’ "
Try getting your facts straight. I merely cited a quotation from Don Feder’s book, referenced below.

In the second place, if anyone is “throwing a hissyfit,” it is you and your intolerant pals, not one of whom has considered what I post with an open mind. Rather all of you relentlessly attack, the same way the media attacks all things conservative. Shameful. Thoughtless.

Third, I never once announced I am “the smartest person in the room.” Your ongoing misrepresentations are characteristic of the left-wing media you revere and follow.

If the Latin is misspelled, write to Don Feder, “Biffy.”

Look, “Glutton,” the New York Times is as far left-wing as they get.
The Los Angeles Times refuses even to publish any dissent from the left-wing global warming orthodoxy.
CNN fired one of its top executives who told reporters in Switzerland that U.S. troops in Iraq were “targeting” reporters.
MSNBC caused a furor by malicious questions at Republicans during a debate.
Katie Couric spat in George Bush’s face, “SO, you think the American people are going to let you get away with this?”

Months later, she coddled Hillary Clinton: “Are you a Mets fan?”

Oh but yes, Hillary LOVES those Mets, so she’s a go for POTUS.

Nobody cites the sources you named above other than “Faux News.”

Then there are the brainwashing universities, where free speech is stifled in much the same way as you do here. Come to think of it, most of you seem to be college kiddies. At least you act like it.

Remind me again how you didn’t call everyone who disagrees with you “stupid”.

But please: regale us with more of the standard right-wing blogosphere memes we’ve come to know and love. If you mention Saul Alinsky I’ll win “Breitbart Bingo”.

Look, I enjoy a good denouncing as much as the next guy, but you are coming off as so enraged that you are losing coherence. Take a few deep breaths and don’t feel like you have to air every single grievance in every single post. Try to remember this is the thread in which you are denouncing the entire board for coddling terrorists. You’ve got another thread for denouncing the entire board for participating in the global warming ‘fraud’. If what you want to talk about now is the media, you really should start another thread; you’re mixing things up to the point where no one knows quite what you are so very pissed off about.

Seriously, relax a little and try again.

[Wrong.](http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/New_York_Times)

> [@](#):
>
> **In reality**
>
> While the crazies over at the Media Research Center have accused the _Times_ of having a liberal bias,[2] there have been several instances where the paper has blatantly supported neoconservative policies. For instance, in the wake of Iran-Contra, one editor acknowledged that the _Times_ frequently adhered to the Reagan administration strategy of heavily reporting on human rights abuses in Nicaragua by the leftist Sandinista government as a means to support the right-wing Contras. At the same time, the newspaper usually ignored worse cases by other Central American governments supported by the Reagan administration.[3] More recently, Clark Hoyt, public editor for the _Times,_ steadfastly refused to issue corrections for a discredited story involving the ACORN pimp hoax.[4]
>
> It may be more reasonable to say that if the paper of today has any actual bias, it trends toward American exceptionalism and preserving the establishment status quo, rather than toward any broad political ideology. After all, the same newspaper which once published _The Pentagon Papers_ now sidelines the release of leaked Afghan War documents in favor of personal attacks on WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.[5] The _Times’_ coverage of the leaks was strikingly suspect when compared with other media outlets; the paper chose to focus on doing its best to make sure the US didn’t look bad, and refused to admit the documents showed that government officials had ever lied about anything.[6] Following the same lines, it also led the charge on not calling waterboarding torture when it was being done by the US,[7] while at the same time not caring to be pedantic when it came to the same abuses done by others.[8] It finally made a rule change in 2014.[9]
>
> Liberal indeed.
>
> On the other hand, some of the charges of liberal bias have some merit. For instance, while everyone agrees campus rape is a serious issue the _Times_ has been at the forefront of turning the legitimate concern into hysteria. This dates back to at least 2006, when after a few solid articles on the Duke lacrosse case they replaced the original writer with one willing to drink from the race/class/gender Kool-Aid that proved so pervasive; they then ran some truly atrocious articles and subsequently refused to correct their blatant factual errors. Since then, they have unabashedly pushed the “1 in 5” statistic even after the study’s author explicitly said it had not been a study intended to be authoritative.
>
> **Iraq War coverage**
>
> The most notable controversy the paper has faced was that centering on its coverage leading up to the Iraq War.[10] Especially troublesome were stories backing the American government’s position on WMD’s in Iraq, authored prominently by reporter Judith Miller.[11] Miller’s articles, which more or less echoed the claims of Bush administration officials, were then cited by those very same officials as justifications for war. Truthiness in motion, you could say.
>
> Not to be outdone, fellow _Times_ journalist Thomas Friedman backed the war effort to the extreme, repeatedly asserting (contrary to the reality on the ground) that all was well, and that we were likely to see the end of the conflict somewhere within the next Friedman Unit. So widely criticized was the _Times_ coverage on Iraq, they even had to print a half-hearted apology when all was said and done.[12]
>
> Despite all of the above, the _New York Times_ does manage to produce some high quality journalism, remaining one of the most respected published newspapers today.
