i also thought of this episode when the story first broke. i wondered if this episode may have a loose link to louis ck.

I don’t know how they…how do women still go out with guys, when you consider the fact that there is no greater threat to women than men? We’re the number one threat to women. Globally and historically, we’re the number one cause of injury and mayhem to women. We’re the worst thing that ever happens to them. That’s true!

Rolls eyes, This whole thing goes back to 1 simple solution.

Women need to be more vocal about what they do or do not want.

He has apologized to all of them privately. And the reason he gave makes 100% sense for what he did. He did ask, and they didn’t say no, so he thought it was okay.
>
> This is 100% the type of behavior I could see happening before the “affirmative consent” concept became big. It’s precisely why we need to teach “yes means yes” instead of “no means no.”

>
> Barring subsequent behavior that makes me doubt it, I believe his apology. Am I some sort of bro who is looking for an excuse to keep listening to his stuff? Hardly. For one thing, I don’t plan on listening to his comedy for a long while after this. For another, I honestly see nothing “bro” about his comedy. The stuff I listened to, at least, came across as pro-feminist, pro-SJW, and rather anti-toxic-masculinity.

> Then it’s important to counterbalance the fact with another one, that as recently as September of this year rather than admit guilt he said that the allegations were not real, that they were just rumors, and that people discussing what he now admits to were participating in rumors. He also specifically says that he has no idea why Tog Notaro made the claims about him (could it be because they happened? lol), and says specifically she should not discuss his misdeeds. It’s not virtue that has him admitting to what he did, it’s the fact that the cat is out of the bag and some kind of admission is the only option of damage control that he has left. When he felt that he could shut people up, he was spinning the line that this was all lies and shouldn’t be disclosed to the press.
>
> So all the fact of his admission REALLY shows is that circumstances have motivated him to believe that making that style of admission is his best option for self-preservation. It doesn’t mitigate anything, or even show real remorse, it just shows that he’s aware that public denial and private threats aren’t going to work any more.
>
> I give him credit for taking the best option to minimize consequences to himself at the moment. He’s just as bad as the low-lives who did these things and are denying them now, and was vehemetly denying them and accusing people of ‘rumor-mongering’ as little as two months ago. The fact that he’s using a slightly different tactic to try to get away with as much as possible doesn’t make him a better person.

Well, in the article I linked he asserted that people talking about his misdeeds were lying about him and that’s enough to qualify as a cover-up for me. Scroll up this page to read the direct quotes of him lying and denying the incident, I already quoted from that one. But perhaps you want more meat, try the link Lamia posted that you quoted. [https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/09/arts/television/louis-ck-sexual-misconduct.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/09/arts/television/louis-ck-sexual-misconduct.html) . You’re probably just going to dismiss those allegations, but I don’t. There’s also stuff like John Stewart openly mocking people for even asking about the allegations [At some point, Jon Stewart will probably have to address claims he’d never heard the Louis CK allegations](https://www.avclub.com/at-some-point-jon-stewart-will-probably-have-to-addres-1820397272) . (And no, I don’t believe that a professional comedian who works closely with Louis CK would be completely unaware of allegations against him that I, a person who doesn’t really follow the comedy world at all, knew about.)

> Hoping that outrage would build against Louis C.K., and also to shame him, they began telling others about the incident the next day. But many people seemed to recoil, they said. “Guys were backing away from us,” Ms. Wolov said. Barely 24 hours after they left Louis C.K.’s hotel, “we could already feel the backlash.”
>
> Soon after, they said they understood from their managers that Mr. Becky, Louis C.K’s manager, wanted them to stop telling people about their encounter with Louis C.K. Lee Kernis, one of the women’s managers at the time, confirmed on Thursday that he had a conversation in which he told Mr. Becky that Louis C.K.’s behavior toward the women had been offensive. Mr. Kernis also said that Mr. Becky was upset that the women were talking openly about the incident.
>
> Mr. Becky denied making any threats toward the women. “I don’t recall the exact specifics of the conversation, but know I never threatened anyone,” he wrote by email on Thursday. Ms. Halpern and Robert Schroeder — Ms. Goodman and Ms. Wolov’s agent at the time — said that the pair told them that they felt they had been warned to stop talking.

>
> Ms. Goodman and Ms. Wolov moved to Los Angeles shortly after the Aspen festival, but “we were coming here with a bunch of enemies,” Ms. Goodman said. Gren Wells, a filmmaker who befriended the comedy duo in 2002, said the incident and the warning, which they told her about soon after Aspen, hung heavily over them both. “This is something that they were freaked out about,” Ms. Wells said.
>
> In the years since, Ms. Goodman and Ms. Wolov have found some success, but they remained concerned about Mr. Becky and took themselves out of the running for the many projects he was involved in. Though their humor is in line with what he produces, “we know immediately that we can never even submit our material,” Ms. Wolov said.

I’m not that connected to that world.”
>
> When it becomes a little too clear that he’s belittling Ackerman, who then connected the accusations to comedians’ willingness to condemn Bill Cosby despite there not being any formal charges against him yet, Stewart says, “I do apologize. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I can’t answer. All I can tell you is I’ve worked with Louis for 30 years, and he’s a wonderful man and person and I’ve never heard anything about this. And we’ve all known Bill Cosby is a prick for a long time.”

Again, if you’re willing to engage in ‘black is white’ claims and deny what’s directly quoted, you’re clearly not going to accept anything as truth but your own preconceptions.

> [@Karol\_Lewis](#):
>
> I don’t see how you can say Louis CK was covering it up, just because another comedian made those comments.

I didn’t say “Louis CK was covering it up just because another comedian made those comments”. I neither claimed that Louis CK was the only one involved, nor did I claim that the evidence for the cover up was solely from the John Stewart quote. Do you really think that if you split your response to me up into three posts that no one will see that I offered more evidence in the post you’re responding to?

> [@](#):
>
> Don’t forget the actions that are described in the NY times page are never called unwanted by any of the women accusing him.

Yes, they are explicitly called unwanted multiple times in both articles. You realize people can just follow the link or look at the quoted material and see what’s in the article, right?

> [@](#):

Louis CK says that it was inappropriate, unwanted sexual activity and I’m perfectly willing to call that sexual harassment.

Not going to bother responding to future posts of yours unless I find it particularly amusing to throw in a quote, you’re clearly not engaging in legitimate discussion.

No, you are incorrect. Neither Louis CK nor the females involved ever said it was unwanted.

The closest thing to it was “He asked if we could go to my dressing room so he could masturbate in front of me.” Stunned and angry, Ms. Corry said she declined, and pointed out that he had a daughter and a pregnant wife. “His face got red,” she recalled, “and he told me he had issues.””

For the above instance he asked and she said no and he didn’t. there is nothing wrong with asking someone (assuming they are of legal age and mentally able to make a rational decision) to participate in an adult act.

Well you better explain that to LCK, because he himself seems to realize there is something wrong with it. As you quoted, his face got red and he said he had issues. Is that the response of someone who thinks he’s doing nothing wrong?

There are certainly situations where it’s completely inappropriate, and even Louis CK thinks this is one of those situations.

Wrong again. He never said that what he did was wrong. he was sorry they were put in the situation.

People assume that because people say “this situation happened” that it is bad.

I can promise you in a hotel room after hanging out chatting is as close as you can get to the perfect situation to ask.

This whole situation is quite silly. Hey basically gave the ladies a “rated MA for nudity and sexual situations warning” and then the ladies in the hotel sat and watched “until he undressed and got all the way naked” before leaving.

If anyone has seen a heavy set middle aged man get undressed, it takes some time. So if he says “can I masturbate in front of you?” and all he gets is a giggle. Then they sit there an watch till he is naked and then leave.

There is nothing more he could have done.
