Say, that Bust of Lenin in Antarctica would go really well with the **Headless Statue of Lenin** in Las Vegas!

Appropriately enough, considering the location of that bust:

They should keep it in a big aquarium, instead.

> I was wondering, though… how do we know that the Lenin in Antarctica isn’t the real body of Lenin, preserved by the cold and dry (the statue in the picture being the tomb marker), and the one in Red Square isn’t just a wax or animatronic replica?

Don’t be ridiculous! That body in Red Square is the Real Lenin, put in that Glass Coffin by the Seven Dwarves after he bit the apple that Stalin gave him. He’s only waiting for his Anastasia to come and kiss him so he can wake up and go off to the Worker’s Paradise in the sky.

No, silly. The Seven Dwarves were the seven 1960’s mainframe computer companies that weren’t IBM. They remained true to their proletarian roots and refused to swear fealty to IBM’s 1960’s-era Undead Corporate Minions, and were sadly betrayed. They escaped to the wilderness and lived in a small way off the occaisional DP contract and mainrenance fee. But they would have their revenge…

The story i heard: sometime in the late 1930’s lenin’s body began to deacy (big time). Stalin had the morticians shot, but there was no solution-water had leaked inot the tomb, and lenin was putrid. So, the body was creamted, and a wax dummy was substituted. Anybody that knows the details is long dead, having been shot or sent to Siberia.
I had always heard that permanent structures were nearly impossible on Antarctica. The snow just continually builds and covers every thing. I watched a discovery channel program on the new Antarctica station that is designed to be raised 10 feet every 20 years years so it doesn’t disappear.

So how come Lenin isn’t 50 feet under snow? Is it just a part of Antarctica that gets no weather?
Another article said that the base is buried under five meters of snow.

The link to the porkin penguins said that the bust of Lenin is on the top of a building. The link in the OP shows just Lenin. So, it stands to reason that the building is under snow.

> The Americans stayed there for less than a week taking measurements, but before they left they, in an act of mischief, rotated the bust of Lenin—which originally faced towards Moscow— so that it now faced Washington DC.

> The Russians returned to the site for one last time in 1967.

So, what, the Russian didn’t rotate it back?
