First of all, I _love_ these guys. Have ever since Walk, Don’t Run, and have pretty much everything they’ve ever recorded, except for this one. But I’ll be _damned_ if I’m gonna plunk down 58 bucks for it. I wouldn’t even if I _could_ afford it. I’m sure we must have talked about this before, but WTF? I _know_ the Ventures enjoy a huge popularity in Japan, but does it make sense to shut out your American fans, just because of that? And while I’m at it, the Ventures aren’t the only group represented as Japanese imports. From what I gather, there are many others and their great selling point seems to be that the cd’s come in what looks like the original LP covers, sleeves, etc. What am I missing here, y’all? I am NOT a vinyl hound, but to my knowledge, some Japanese pressings are done on better vinyl with better mastering and with hard-to-find tracks or alternate takes, etc. They get pretty geeky in a good way. ---

The title has me confused. Who are the Acoustic Ventures? Or did the Ventures produce acoustic albums? ---

Ok, let me make sure I have this straight. This is an American band, but the cd is a Japanese import? Looking on Amazon, there are new versions of this cd from US sellers (NY) for just under $30, but I can’t tell if the $30 ones are American or Japanese releases. I’m not surprised the Japanese version costs more. I have several Japanese imports, and they all cost a fortune. Is it worth it? Well, the Japanese imports usually have 2-3 extra songs, a lyric booklet, and sometimes stickers or trading card style photos. Since they’re usually $10-20 more than the American version of the cds, it’s up to you to decide whether the small amount of extras are worth it. I bought the Japanese import of **Blind Guardian** ’s _Nightfall in Middle Earth_, and it came with a sticker sheet featuring 4-5 stickers of the band’s logo in different colors, which was pretty cool. It had a lyric booklet, which was just a plain white cd style booklet that had the lyrics to all songs and spoken pieces in Japanese and English. The original cd booklet (which was included) has lyrics to the songs, but not the short spoken pieces. The extra song was an orchestral arrangement of the song “Nightfall”. It’s ok, but not worth the extra dough just for the song. Also got **Ben & Jason** ’s\* Emoticon’s \*Japanese import, which again contains a lyric booklet, plain white book with plain text. Kind of nice in this case, since the regular cd does not contain the lyrics. There’s also a couple of extra songs, which are okay, and that’s about it. Was it worth the $10-15 extra? Not really, but I’m not sending it back, as it was very difficult to find _any_ version of this cd.
