5th Grade-level books for sensitive Kindergartner?

Oh, DUH… Roald Dahl. But then again, some people here might object to the gross and violent nature of some of his stories.

There are a whole series of these books, which I vaguely remember my Dad reading to me when I was very young. Someone like the OP’s daughter might be the ideal audience for these books; I suspect anyone much older would find them impossibly quaint. The one thing I remember about the books (aside from something about magic pancakes that turn people into squealy little pigs, in Raggedy Ann & Andy and the Nice Fat Policeman, I think) is that they invariably ended with everything being set right and all villanous characters repenting and turning nice.
