Turns out 704-222-2222 is a cab company, too.
416-777-7777 is the classifieds department of the Toronto Star. (You know, “classified ads”? Like Craigslist or Kijiji on paper?)
"I hope the next time I move I get a real easy phone number. Something like 222-2222. I would say, “Sweet.” People would say, “Mitch, how do I get ahold of you?” I would say, “Just press 2 for a while, and when I answer, you will know that you have pressed 2 enough. Instead of ‘hello,’ I say STOP!!!” - Mitch Hedberg
It’s not advertised but apparently 703-333-3333 is a cab compay (their advertised number is 703-522-3333). 301-444-4444 is a towing company.
I’d never heard of any of them being anything, and didn’t find anything in Google until 888-8888, which is an animal husbandry thing. Apparently no businesses really value these easily remembered phone numbers. A nearby area code has a Petsmart and at one end (222-2222) and a bakery at the other (999-9999) with everything private in between.
Just saw a 333-3333 in big print on the back of a “Taxi Taxi” on my way home from the drug store. Instantly thought of reporting same here!
Driving into work today I saw a lawyer’s ad on the back of a bus with this slogan:
Don’t wait! Call 8!
