This is undoubtedly good news. Note, however, that according to the NY Times: > Each count of contempt of Congress carries a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of one year in jail, as well as a fine of $100 to $1,000. I suspect he will continue to stonewall and take his chances, on the assumption that he will get out on bail and never receive the max penalty. ---

He may, but the other people called to testify who may be thinking of playing his game may not be so willing to endure the warrant/arrest/booking/trial/possible jail time stakes. ---

More jail time: “The former chief executive of a tech company in suburban Chicago who lost his job after he threw a chair inside the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot was sentenced on Friday to 30 days imprisonment. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols also ordered Bradley Rukstales, of Inverness, Illinois, to pay $500 in restitution, court records show. Rukstales previously acknowledged he stormed the Capitol, threw a chair in the direction of police officers who had been forced to retreat from rioters, was nearby as a melee between officers and rioters broke out and had to be dragged away by officers after he refused to comply with attempts to get him up from the floor. Though they said the officers weren’t in danger of being hit by the chair, prosecutors said Rukstales’ noncompliance added to the chaos in the Capitol. Prosecutors must love some of these defendants. One of them took a break during the riot to post a picture of himself, adding a big arrow pointing at him labelled “THIS IS ME!” ---
