Cheney could even, just possibly, have some principles; and have decided that a principled conservative needs, right now, on this particular subject, to be working with the Democrats even if she still disagrees with them on too many subjects to become one. ---

Or she is just looking at it like a trader and seeing where there is an arbitrage position in her market. If 90% are betting A, and you think B is more likely, go all in on B. And in this case it’s an easy decision as she will likely outlive Trump.
