Ivanka never said she ascertained by herself that Trump had lost. She said she believed Bill Barr when he said Trump’s assertions that he, Trump, won were “bullshit.” (And as pundit/lawyer Neal Katyal pointed out last night, “If anyone knows bullshit, it’s Bill Barr.”) IOW, she trusted _Barr_ to know. She never claimed to have researched the issue herself. So as usual, Trump is tilting at windmills. ---

He also is saying “I never said hang Mike Pence”. But nobody accused him of saying those words. He agreed with it when he heard that the rioters were chanting it. He is denying something that he wasn’t accused of and not addressing the actual accusation. ---

There isn’t. But he is screaming that he never said “hang Mike Pence”. I’m saying his denial is meaningless and is designed to evade the actual accusation that he liked the idea of them hanging Pence. I’m highlighting his tactic of non-denial denails. ---

DJT and his machinery are acutely aware that their supporters live entirely within a carefully orchestrated echo chamber that’s largely of their own making. Because Trump supporters never hear the question/accusation, Trump can be ridiculously comfortable assuming that his straw man denials will satisfy the drooling masses. Most famously was Trump’s constant “Read the transcript !” whining about the fateful phone call with (Ukraine’s) Zelenskyy where Trump tried to extort yet-to-be-fabricated opposition research to be used against Joe Biden while holding hostage US taxpayer foreign aid – already allocated, and obviously much needed – to Ukraine. Trump knew that only a small percentage of his followers _could_ read, and that _not a single one_ of those people ever _would_ read the transcript. The transcript, of course, was damning and incontrovertible. Classic Trump. If it works, don’t fix it. ---

I wonder what happened to the makeshift gallows. It looks like they don’t hang effigies anymore, because that would’ve been perfect. Of course, I doubt those knuckle draggers would know what an effigy was. ---
