The funny thing is, and this isn’t a joke, the first time I heard the name “Proud Boys” I thought it was a gay rights organization. (As in gay pride.) I didn’t know who they were. When I learned what they were doing, I realized that they were the opposite. ---

[“Proud of Your Boy” from _Aladdin_](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/proud-boys-name-aladdin-song/) (which is not in either of the films but appears in the stage show). It’s a song Aladdin sings expressing hope that his dead mother would be proud of him. The obsession with the song explains a lot about the fragile masculinity of the group members IMNSHO. ---
