I’ve only ever seen it as a quote from the play. I suspect he made it up. Much as we would’ve liked it if Franklin showed the same sparkling wit in Congress that he showed in _Poor Richard’s Almanac_, by all reports he was pretty quiet and kept a low profile in Philadelphia ---

So there’s a big meeting in Texas, and it’s starring some of the Jan 6th insurrectionists. Looks like the worms are getting more confident in crawling out from under their rocks after all of the arrests and convictions. I saw this article tonight about the defendents where they could remove charges of having gone against the administration of justice on 1/6. The Republicans are releasing Jan 6th footage without blurring people’s faces after they said they would blur it out. I guess they don’t care if they get identified or not. I hate to say it, but the ruling makes sense to me. Elections aren’t part of the justice system. Luckily no convictions will be overturned — just the “enhanced” part of some sentences reduced. ---

A denial of criminal immunity would incapacitate every future President with de facto blackmail and extortion while in office, and condemn him to years of post-office trauma at the hands of political opponents. The threat of future prosecution and imprisonment would become a political cudgel to influence the most sensitive and controversial Presidential decisions, taking away the strength, authority, and decisiveness of the Presidency. The D.C. Circuit’s ruling, if allowed to stand, “deeply wounds the President, by substantially reducing the President’s ability to protect himself. it appears that trump is having post-office trauma right now. sad… ---
