Stories about pardoned Jan 6 people who get in trouble again aren’t particularly interesting, because there were well over a thousand people pardoned, and in any sample of that many just random people you are going to have people get convicted of crimes. I’m curious what percentage of people who were pardoned end up back in custody for another crime, and if that percentage is larger than the general population. I _assume_ it’s going to be much higher, but I wonder if it’s dramatically different. Otherwise, it’s reminiscent of the people who cite stories of immigrants who commit crimes and insist that immigration represents a horde of danger descending upon an unsuspecting United States. ---

It would be fair to look at the statistics, though. If 1,000 people were pardoned (that’s an undercount, but for the sake of argument go with it), compare their record on committing offenses with that of a randomly-chosen 1,000 that fit the same demographic traits. There’s a big difference between them. Trump is using the logic that if one migrant commits a crime, it proves that all migrants are bad people. The Jan 6th releases were all people who committed serious crimes. The fact that they are all bad people is a given. ---

Anyway. The most interesting ‘pardoned Jan6ers’ story going forward may be whether or not they act to please the Deal Leader when stochastically set upon DL’s enemies. Musk is talking up Bad Judges pretty hard these past few days, even going so far as to dox the daughter of one, by some reports. (I’m not seeing a reputable source on that yet so will leave it in the ‘unproven’ category.) If one of the Pardoned does a solid for Donald and Elon by committing violence on a judge, that should elicit…something from Republicans. Concerned frowns, perhaps. ---

I think he’d want a more extravagant level of praise in there, such as _The Art of the Deal Emperor._ Also though millions of us joke about Dear Leader, I think Donald would prefer something more intimidating, such as _ **Dread Leader** _. (Though I hope that something happens to keep us from ever finding out.) ---
