Do you mean the one he was probably handed and told to read word for word?

He can do that, yes. I don’t know that he’s capable of coherence once he goes off track.

IIRC, non-profits with suspicious names from all across the political spectrum. The right wing claimed it was right wing organizations only; but I don’t believe that it was.

Sen. Rounds (R-SD) thinks there’s no need to impeach Trump:

But Rounds argued the purpose of impeachment is to remove a president, and since Trump will soon leave office, the impeachment trial [may not be allowed](https://apnews.com/article/who-presides-at-trump-trial-004522dcdeb296e8b86d3bc85a533b5d) by the Constitution.

Then he said something _really_ fucking stupid (that is destined to come back to hurt us if Trump’s impeachment is not upheld by the Senate) because it’s a reason to convict:

Here’s an article on the Tea Party PAC’s. I don’t have any information specifically regarding how aggressively the IRS investigated the Tea Party.

[https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/08/tea-party-pacs-ideas-death-214164](https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/08/tea-party-pacs-ideas-death-214164)

Given how grift-ridden the groups were, it seems that maybe the IRS wasn’t as aggressive as they should’ve been.

But the larger point I was trying to make is this lack of attention ultimately _ **hurt** _ the Republican cause, and started a culture of grift. Now, campaign finance laws are so weak that there’s a lot of grift that’s technically legal, but also a lot that isn’t.

Here’s another good article, one I like to cite it because it’s from a conservative source.

Anyhoo, this is batshit nuts, but sadly, not surprising. Now that trump is off virtually all social media, his acolytes have taken to searching for hidden meanings in his old tweets and the few new statements of his that are getting out.

Yesterday, I watched an analysis by Sagaar Enjeti, conservative co-host on The Hill, surmising that the GOP is over based on [an article](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/12/opinion/trump-republican-party.html) by Ross Douthat in the NYT that talks about the divide in the party between reality and fantasy. He talks about the split between the MAGA and the non-MAGA. The story is only 3 days old, but it’s already feeling unlikely. Trump and MAGA are already losing traction, but the GOP losing favor does seem likely to me.

And it’s not clear that this bargain can survive the irruption of all that crazy into the halls of the Capitol, and the QAnon-ification of the right that made the riot possible.
