The reason that you’re not seeing more insanity is that the insurrectionist are genuinely shocked that law enforcement weren’t and aren’t taking their side. The ones storming the Capitol genuinely felt that they would be welcomed by police and ushered into the building. They were surprised that (a few selfies aside) they were met with resistance and actual gunfire when they stormed the building, and are out of their minds that insurgents are actually being arrested for their conduct. Facing consequences was something that never entered into their minds, and it’s taken a lot of the steam out of their willingness to force further confrontations. ---
