Well, I think we have to look at such situations with the mindset that we are integrally related with the environment around us, and that we are members of these ecosystems, not intruders.
That said, I wonder what the necessary steps will be in order to create an equilibrium between capitalistic growth (especially in developing second and third world countries) and the environment. Should we sacrifice the developments of these countries for the biodiversity? What are we willing to concede in the face of environmental conservation? What about higher prices on gasoline (I know Europe already has higher rates, but us Americans are notoriously for our love of cheap petrol)?
Just wondering what your views are.
