I think the memorial montage is only for those who died during 2005. And while I was paying attention to the amount of applause each person received, it does seem rude to applaud more enthusiastically for one person over another. ---

I am an idiot. JG had a girl, Violet Anne, in December. What-EVah. Who else thinks that they should not let us hear the audience clap during the Calvacade of the Dead? It ends up being a popularity contest of a sort. Not that the whole show isn’t that. IMDB is giving all the winners on its [front page](http://www.imdb.com/) as they’re announced. Martin Scorsese, zero Oscars. 3-6 Mafia: one Yeah. Best Film Editing: **Crash** I’m glad it got something. Zhang Ziyi is lovely and her dress was very sparkly. For someone who barely speaks English, she did a better job than Lauren Bacall. OK, that was uncalled for. Sorry. ---

This is the first time I’ve ever personally known someone nominated for an Oscar, and he won (for editing Crash)! Congratulations to Hughes Winborne!
