Whoa. Hillary Swank looked, er, swank. Good for P. S. Hoffman. Haven’t seen _Capote_ yet but I’ve liked his performances in just about everything I’ve ever seen him in. ---

Yes, kudos for Hughes! I saw CRASH today and, even though most of the characters never saw each other, I never had any trouble following the stories. I didn’t see a bad performance among those guys (although I would have subbed Eric Bana of MUNICH for the WALK THE LINE guy) but I’m so so so glad about Phillip. Not the best speech, though, but what the hell. This thing ain’t ending at 11:00, is it. ---

Best Actress: **Reese Witherspoon** Not surprised. She was great. Judi Dench had bedhead. Charlize had a mullet in _North Country_. Reese looked very nervous. Her dress looked like tinsel, though. What was that bit about being “a real woman”? Otherwise, her speech was OK, a bit gushy. ---
